The Chief Executive was appointed to his position in 2017. Prior to his appointment, Hon. Boahen Aidoo was elected to serve three successive terms as Member of Parliament for the Amenfi East Constituency in the Western Region from the year 2001 to 2012. For half that same period, he served also as the Western Regional Minister, where he distinguished himself. Before his time in the legislature, he was the District Chief Executive for Sefwi Ewiase, his hometown.
For a period, he occupied the position of Assistant Director at the Ghana Education Service (GES). He was a lecturer and researcher at the Institute for Land Management and Development at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). For close to two decades, Hon. Boahen Aidoo collaborated on a major international research programme with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPR) and H. R. Wallingford, and is also credited for making outstanding contributions to the World Bank and Food and Agriculture Organisation’s (FAO) research into land tenure and agricultural productivity, particularly, in cocoa-growing areas in Ghana. Consequently, he has written extensively on Ghana’s land tenure system and the cocoa industry.
Hon. Boahen Aidoo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), an MPhil Degree in Geography from the University of Ghana, and a Certificate in Land Reform, Agricultural and Rural Development from the International Centre for Land Policy Studies and Training (ICLPST), Taiwan.
